Anti-Matter August: Superwoman

Written on Wed, Aug 3, 2011 by Matt posted by matt

Hey folks!  Welcome back to Anti-Matter August!  Today’s offering is Superwoman from Earth 2.

She looks like she had a tough fight with Wonder Woman.  OK, maybe not that tough.  But still, second sketch of August is up.  I told you fine fans that we’re back with the theme’s!

As always, leave us comments to show the love.

This doesn’t work for me. I find the image disturbing. Not sure why. I don’t know if it’s the disrespect for Wonder Woman, like pissing on the American Flag. I’m not a HUGE WW fan, but that seems wrong. Maybe it mixes too much graphic violence with Pin-Up Comics Babes. That kind of titillation is tolerable (Babes + Violence), when it seems like there’s a fair fight going on. Here, an unconscious woman is being abused. That sort of sickens me. It comes across like a fetish drawing from a Comics S&M site. I like Unshaven Comics, but this image is gross.

    Hey Russ,

Sorry you find this image gross, but I sincerly did not aproach this from an S&M angle. I didn’t really aproach it from any bad angle anyway. Just the thought that Wonder Woman can lose sometime’s too, even to the evil version of her.

I thought I suggested that she lost the fight, but I can see how it might come across differently. Hope this doesn’t run you off Unshaven Comics, but I guess you can’t win them all.

Again, sorry it’s offensive to you, but I sincerly thank you for letting me know your opinion on it. Not trying to be sarcastic or snarkly, just being genuine.

This is what we want though, in all honesty. Honest feedback. Thanks Russ. Anti-Matter August may certainly show off some seedy folks, but I know there’s plenty more we do that will be right us your alley! In fact, September will be “Super Jam Band” month!

As a Superwoman fan, I thought it was a lovely picture. You got down to the ugly core of the character.
